A tribute to Freeman Dyson: Birds and Frog

This video was taken at Rutgers University during the 100th Statistical Mechanics Conference in December 2008. I knew (Freeman told us) that the same talk had been cancelled a couple of months before, it should have been an AMS Einstein Public Lecture in Mathematics (here is the paper). We were going to witness a premiere from this outstanding scientist and speaker. Curiosity and excitement were spreading around. The idea to record came to me way after the beginning because I wished my students and some colleagues could have been there. After the talk I asked Freeman his permission to share it: “why not” and smiled. Please forgive the low quality of the shaking image and the audio, but I am holding a Nokia N95 far from the source.
RIP Freeman, and thank you for everything you have shared with us!
